HOW DO CLASSES WORK?

At Zeitgeist Zentrum, we draw inspiration from alternative teaching methodologies, such as the Montessori style, embracing a more playful, hands-on experience while moving away from traditional textbook methods. With a fast-paced approach, our attentive teachers guide students every step of the way.

Central to our ethos is prioritizing individual needs, fostering a close-knit atmosphere, and supporting students from start to finish. Our long-standing student community exemplifies this, progressing from beginners to fluency.

Our trained teachers, experienced in working with neurodivergent students, embody a nurturing patience, cultivating a supportive learning environment with strong student-teacher relationships. Each class is led by at least two teachers and kept intentionally small to ensure quality supervision and exposure to diverse teaching styles. We recognize that learning isn’t always linear, allowing students to switch classes based on their pace.

Our group courses cater to working professionals, offering in-depth 90-minute sessions twice a week. While interaction and communication primarily take place in class, written assignments are completed at home. Additionally, online groups provide extra support, enabling teachers to answer questions and share supplementary materials throughout the week, ensuring continuous guidance for every learner.

At Zeitgeist Zentrum, we blend officially accredited books with in-house materials, adopting a bilingual or trilingual approach to grammar instruction that considers each learner’s home language. This comprehensive and personalised method reflects our commitment to fostering a vibrant and inclusive community for all language learners.

Course Levels

Our program is based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). 

We offer the following levels: 

A1.1 / A1.2 (Beginner)

A2.1 / A2.2 (Elementary)

B1, B1+*,B2 (Intermediate) 

C1 (Advanced)

Exam preparation 

*B1+ is a course to refresh your B1 skills if you have not used German for a while and do not feel secure enough to immediately start with B2. 

Certificate 

A certificate of completion will be issued at the end of the course (80% participation rate).

For non-students, we also offer exams for certificates for certain bureaucratic purposes. Please contact us for details.

Placement Test

You will take a placement test beforehand to determine your class level. You may also take this test via video conferencing.

Extensive Courses

Our extensive courses are a smooth and helpful transition into the German culture and are perfect for working expats. The course takes place twice a week on Monday and Wednesday evening .
All the aspects of the language will be covered, such as speaking, listening, reading, writing and grammar.

We teach all levels. From absolute Beginner (A1.1) to Advanced (C1)

Conversational Courses

In the Conversation Courses you will focus on improving your speaking skills, such as vocabulary, pronunciation, fluency in speaking and gaining more confidence in speaking the language. Various topics will be covered such as German music, pronunciation, conversation, history of art, history of Berlin, food, etc. 

Conversational courses start at B1+

One-on-One / Two-on-one

Private lessons are one-on-one, or two-on-one, and are fully adapted to your needs, time and level. You choose your own pace, intensity and focus. These lessons can be used to prepare for an exam, job interview, or focus on particulars like writing, speaking or improving your professional language. You direct the lesson's focus.

One-on-One : 45 mins 55 EUR

Intensive Course Zeitgeist Zentrum

Refresher Courses

We all know that the dreaded grammar is the fundamental building block to the German language. Our Refresher class gives students the best opportunity to improve their grammar skills and catch up on what they may have missed in their previous lessons. These classes are also a great way to wrap-up before starting the next level.

(Please note: For some students this may be a recommended provision before starting the next level)

Weekend Courses

If you are working in Berlin, or just visiting for a few days, and you want to make the most of your available time, we offer German lessons on weekends. Our German lessons on weekends are aimed at those who are very busy during the working week, and to tourists that are visiting our city for a limited time. We offer lessons with flexible schedules for all levels, both in groups and one-on-one. Get in touch with us!

In-Company-Courses

We offer group or individual employee courses in German, English, and Chinese. These professional courses are tailor-made to suit your company’s needs and can be held either at your office or at our location in Wedding. We take care of all course materials and organization—all we need from you is a room, a flipchart, and your time.

Before the course begins, we conduct in-depth assessments for each participant and provide continuous guidance throughout the learning process.

  • Rates are valid through December 31 2023. Rates apply to courses taken continuously without interruption. 

  • Missed lessons cannot be taken later or refunded. 

  • Courses that fall on mandatory holidays cannot be taken later or refunded. 

  • A tablet, PC, Android or i-phone telephone or laptop are required to access our Online courses.

  • Books are not included and have to be purchased separately.
