The Power of Empathy: Why Two Polyglot Friends Started This School

I’ve always loved languages. Growing up speaking Vietnamese and German, and later learning English and Mandarin, I felt a deep connection to the way language opens up entire worlds. But as I went through various language schools, I noticed something was missing. The classes felt rigid, the pressure was high, and I often felt like just another student in a room. The learning was there, but the joy and human connection were not.

My co-founder and I, both passionate about language and human psychology, shared this frustration. We realized that for so many people, the hardest part of learning a new language isn't the grammar, it’s the anxiety of making a mistake, the fear of not fitting in, or the pressure to perform in a group.

That's when we knew we had to do things differently. We decided to create a school built on a simple yet powerful idea: empathy.

More Than a School, It’s a Home

Our founding philosophy is rooted in one question: "What does it feel like to learn here?"

Empathy isn't just a word we use; it's the foundation of everything we do. It means understanding that every person's journey is unique. It means creating a space where a quiet student feels just as comfortable speaking as an outgoing one. And it means recognizing that for many, a great class isn't just about what you learn, but how safe you feel while learning it.

We wanted Zeitgeist Zentrum to feel like a second home. The kind of place where you can grab a coffee, chat with a friend, and know that you are part of a supportive community. It's why we have small class sizes, why our teaching methods are creative and flexible, and yes, it’s why our cats Stevie and Tila roam the halls, they’re our ambassadors of calm.

Learning a language is a deeply human experience. It’s about communication, vulnerability, and connection. We believe the best way to teach that is by creating an environment that reflects those very values.

We built this school to be the place we always wished we had. We invite you to join us, not just to learn a language, but to find a community where you belong.
